TEACHING ABOUT WATER – HOW TO IMPROVE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF WATER RESOURCES AND THEIR PROTECTION

What is the goal:
To involve UJEP students in public education in the field of water and to use their innovative ideas and approaches to raise public awareness of water-related issues and water protection.

Who can apply:
UJEP students of any field and level of study who are interested in water protection and want to engage in working with the public.

How to apply:

  1. Form a team of 2–4 students (regardless of your level of study).
  2. Choose a topic related to water resources and their protection (e.g. pollution, assessment of ecological status of watercourses, revitalization, water resource management, etc.). The suitability of the topic can be consulted with Dr. Al Souki.
  3. Prepare a project proposal by 14.11.2025 on how to teach about water. You can decide whether you will prepare:
  4. An on-site teaching program (e.g. lecture, interactive game, excursion, etc.) – at least 2 teaching hours in length. Please specify the intended target audience in your proposal.
  5. Online educational materials (e.g. video, interactive game, etc.).
  6. Apply via email at karim.souki@ujep.cz and send your educational project proposal with a maximum length of 6 A4 pages.

 

What happens next:

  1. The best 6 teams will be invited to personally present their projects to an expert jury. Project proposals will be evaluated by an expert jury composed of members of the IDEAL project team and representatives of FŽP. The main evaluation criteria will be an innovative approach to education, relevance of the selected topic, potential to reach a broad audience, and feasibility.
  2. Two winning teams will be invited to the international Czech–German final, where they will compete with winning teams from ČZU and TUD.
  3. The two winning teams will have the opportunity to actively participate in public education within the IDEAL project – Importance of water eDucation in EuropeAn elbe/Labe region (100736356), supported by the Interreg Czech Republic – Saxony 2021–2027 programme.
