TEACHING ABOUT WATER – HOW TO IMPROVE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF WATER RESOURCES AND THEIR PROTECTION
Objective:
To involve UJEP students in educating the public about water and to use their innovative ideas and approaches to raise awareness of water-related issues and protection.
Who can apply:
Students of any field or level of study at UJEP who are interested in water protection and wish to engage in public outreach.
How to apply:

Form a team of 2–4 students (your level of study does not matter).

Choose a topic related to water resources and their protection (e.g., pollution, assessment of the ecological status of a river, revitalization, water source management, etc.).
– You can consult your topic with Dr. Al Souki. -
Prepare a project proposal by December 15th, 2025, describing how you would teach about water. You can choose one of the following:

A face-to-face educational program (e.g., lecture, interactive game, excursion, etc.) – minimum duration 2 teaching hours. Indicate your intended target group in the proposal.

Online educational materials (e.g., video, interactive game, etc.).

What happens next:

The 6 best teams will be invited to present their project in person to an expert jury.

Project proposals will be evaluated by a professional jury composed of members of the IDEAL project team and representatives of the Faculty of the Environment (FŽP).

The main evaluation criteria will include:

Innovative approach to education
-
Relevance of the chosen topic
-
Potential to engage the general public
-
Feasibility of the project
-
The 2 winning teams will be invited to the international Czech–German final, where they will compete against the winning teams from Czech University of Life Sciences (ČZU) and Technische Universität Dresden (TUD).
The winning teams will also have the opportunity to actively participate in public education as part of the IDEAL project – Importance of water eDucation in EuropeAn elbe/Labe region (100736356), supported by the Interreg Czech Republic–Saxony 2021–2027 program.
